Susan's Bio

I was born in Texas and grew up in the Rio Grande Valley, a place that is neither Texas nor Mexico. It is its own land with its own history, its own people. The life journey I took kept me away far too long. A big city named Dallas and the corporate world was good to me and I collected my children during this time, a birth, an adoption, and a marriage that blessed me with two more. Now I am back in The Valley, living in a tree house on an island with my very romantic husband, Rhett, who is named after the hero in Gone with the Wind.  

Confucius said “a picture is worth a thousand words.” But the power of stories is written into human DNA. I learned to paint those pictures with words. While traveling the United States as a public speaker, I made storytelling a key part of my presentations. Audiences continually gave me reviews that requested, “More stories. More stories!” So, I write.

What I see in the world is that love heals, we are all one on the earth, and that “what lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us.” (Emerson)
